Row your boat

Last weekend I rowed in the big 8s race of the season, the Head of the River race, which is on the Thames.

We came in 217th, which is better than it sounds since we were 5th in our category, so we're all pretty happy.

Now we'll probably split up into smaller boats, and work even harder trying to get a seat in a boat for Henley.

I turn around for ten seconds and it all goes to sh*t

Northern Ontario breaking off to join Manitoba? What? This must be a first: I wish I were in Manitoba. Mantario?

Meanwhile everyone and his dog seems to be looking at becoming leader of the Liberal party, including all the non-Liberals. Bob Rae was NDP premier of Ontario and Belinda Stronach was a Conservative leadership candidate. All this inter-party bed hopping rings false to me. Doesn't anyone care about their party's platform anymore? Or are the parties all so similar that no one cares?

What the heck is going on over there? Smarten up!

Life's a beach

Last week I moved into a lovely new flat, on Brighton Road in Stoke Newington.

My strange decorating plans are well on their way to being implemented thanks to Ali's skill with the drill (which we have named Mr. Pokey).

For example, we have a bar in the living room (familiar to any who visited the Brum flat) and a flaming fire ball.

A housewarming party will follow forthwith!

Quadruplets laughing

I am a simple person. I like to see four identical babies laughing it up. Who doesn't?

Thanks to Aunt Marianne for this slice of cuteness. The video is served up by the lovely and useful Google Video Now it's on YouTube, since the Google link is broken -- that's tech lifespan for ya.
