I live just off Brick Lane, in Spitalfields, E1 for you postcodies.

Much like the heroine in Monica Ali's Booker-prize-nominated novel Brick Lane, my story is one of "a strong, confident woman who doesn't defy fate so much as bend it to her will." Natch.

My day usually starts off as I carry my bike out of my flat on the top floor. But today I am taking the tube! A bike photo odyssey, which believe me is epic, is to follow.

This is the shared balcony where I hang with my flatmate Amy and our neighbour Michelle, and where, like the heroine in Monica Ali's Booker-prize-nominated novel Brick Lane, we complain about being shipped from Bangladesh to London at the age of 18 for an arranged marriage with an older man.
